LAUGH AND THE WHOLE WORLD….

…laughs with you. What about cough? Having once shared that there is always something to write about, I struggled with a topic this week because I am sick. Then a light, albeit dim, went on. That there’s somethin’ to write about–misery.

Thanks to my bride, who has been sick for a week, I woke up this morning to find that I have been transported into a Nyquil commercial. I am sneezing, coughing, dripping, and feverish. I feel like–well, I feel like that guy in bed in the Nyquil commercial. My wife, who is beginning to get better, said to me with tender loving care, “Take cough medicine, put some honey in your tea, and don’t cough on me, I don’t want to get sick again.” I’m trying all of that.

The easiest is not coughing on her tho’ my disclaimer was, “Unless you sleep elsewhere I’m not responsible for where I cough at night.”

I’ve had today a gallon, at least, maybe a bath tub’s full, of tea. The best part of the honey is that if it isn’t stirred well, one gets a sweet surprise in the last gulp. Having had several sweet gulps that way, I can report they have done not one thing for the coughing.

Yes, I took the cough medicine, a new brand of 12 hour cough medicine. You have to shake it well to emulsify the little anti-cough guys and gals floating around in the bottle. I can report that the medicine works great–for 5 1/2 hours. Now what? I’ve got 6 1/2 to go and am coughing my brains out.

To ease the general misery I’ve taken Tylenol. No complaints there, except with myself. Remember the old saw that fevers spring up at night? No? Well, take my word for it. So said, my grandma and my mom, so it must be true. Therefore, having taken the Tylenol 3 hours ago late in the afternoon, night is falling. I am getting flushed and can’t take it again for a few more hours. Taking it then will mean I’ll feel better–until I go to sleep because it will be too early to take again. Timing is everything.

Oh yes…. And my head is beginning to feel like Eli Whitney is stuffing cotton inside my head and ears. Time to reach for the Mucinex.

Now you might ask why I didn’t just take a cold capsule that has all the above stuff in it? Good question. Answer is? It irks me to pay more to have someone jam all that stuff into one pill when my medicine cabinet has all the aforementioned ingredients and I can jam it down my throat and skip a step.

So we come to the end of this saga, which is this. If you leave a cold untreated it lasts for a week. It you treat a cold it only last for seven days.

My thought for the week.

PS: If there are any typos, sorry. I’m going to bed.
