Even if they manage to avoid choking, ingesting plastic can cause malnutrition, chemical contamination, or damaged internal organs. PLASTIC NEVER DISAPPEARS. Once an animal dies and decomposes, the plastic it consumed is released back into the ocean for its next victim. Over time, it breaks down into microplastics that infect the water we drink, the food we eat, and even the air we breathe.
